I've mentioned this before, but since I'm seeing the info plastered all over the place I figured you might as well hear it from the horse's mouth.  I don't want you to think I'm out of the loop :>)

Our hearing at the Ontario Court of Appeals has been scheduled for September 15 and 16 in Toronto at Osgoode Hall.

We will again argue that the Ontario dog ownership ban, commonly known as the 'pit bull' ban, should be struck down in its entirety.  This means that the amendments from 2005 should be found unconstitutional and declared to be of no force and effect.

Contrary to the braggadocchio by our former (and unmissed) Attorney General, who told media during the court proceedings that his legislation would withstand a Charter challenge, we were successful in having the law found unconstitutional at the Superior Court of Justice.  This is not only unusual, but something we are very pleased about.  We are looking forward to moving on to the Court of Appeals in September.

Court cases like ours cost money.  If you would like to help with that, donations both large and small are greatly appreciated.

As noted in the letter we circulated awhile ago, there are four different ways to contribute to the Ontario legal fund.

We greatly appreciate the support we have received from financial contributors, those who have provided goods and services, our friends in the dog blogging community and our well wishers both near and far.

By the time we are finished, we expect the case to cost in the neighbourhood of a million dollars.  We are about two-thirds of the way there.

If you can spare a few dollars, it will help us to pay the legal bills for this important case.

I'll be posting updated information as it becomes available.  We are a few months away from our court date, so expect a reminder as the time draws near.

Thanks to one and all for your ongoing support.

Every dollar counts.
