Lately, I've read editorials and columns written by ignorant politicians (just for a change), most notably in Scotland, regarding the importance of eliminating dogs which were bred to 'hunt and kill' from the pet populations.
Hmmm...that would eliminate all Hounds, Terriers, Livestock guards, Gundogs, most of the Nonsporting group and almost all of the Working group.
I guess you'd be left with the Toys (but not the Yorkshire terrier, Affenpinscher, Brussels Griffon, Cavalier King Charles spaniel, English Toy spaniel, Silky terrier or Toy Poodle).
You'd keep a few in Working if you discounted their Mastiff ancestry, such as Bullmastiff, Newfoundland, St Bernard, Bernese Mountain and Greater Swiss Mountain and there'd be Portuguese Water, Rottweiler, maybe a couple of others.
We'd have a few in Nonsporting (Lhasa Apso, Chow, Keeshond, Schipperke), maybe some in the Herding group depending on your definitions and that would be about it.
Sounds like a brilliant bloody idea.
